2026–27 Academic Year: What's New
AI Curriculum (Classes 3–10)
CBSE is introducing formal AI literacy across grade levels — from computational thinking in Classes 3–5 to AI applications in real-world contexts in Classes 9–10.
Open-Book Exam Pilot (Class 9)
From 2026–27, Class 9 students across pilot schools will experience open-book assessments in Science, Mathematics, and English. These are not easier than traditional exams — they test deeper understanding and application.
Increased CBQ Weightage
The proportion of Competency-Based Questions rises to approximately 50% of the theory paper for Classes 9–12.
Top 30 CBSE Student FAQs (June 2026)
Q1: How do I download my CBSE Class 12 Marksheet?
Download from DigiLocker (digilocker.gov.in) using your roll number. The official digital marksheet is accepted by all universities.
Q2: My Class 12 marks are lower than expected. What are my options?
Three options: (1) Apply for photocopy of evaluated answer sheet — ₹500/subject; (2) Apply for marks verification — re-totalling; (3) Apply for re-evaluation — a re-examiner re-marks your answers. Fees were reduced by up to 85% in 2026.
Q3: Can I appear in compartment exam if I failed two subjects in Class 12?
No. Class 12 compartment is allowed for students who failed in exactly one subject.
Q4: What is the difference between "Marks Verification" and "Re-evaluation"?
Marks Verification only checks if all marks were correctly totalled. Re-evaluation has a new examiner actually re-mark your answer sheet.
Q5: Will my Class 10 Phase 2 marks replace Phase 1 marks?
Yes. CBSE records the best performance across the two phases for each subject independently.
Q6: Is CUET mandatory for all college admissions?
Not all. CUET is mandatory for central universities (DU, JNU, BHU, etc.). Many state universities and private institutions have their own admission processes.
Q7: Can a student with 60% in Class 12 get admission to DU?
DU uses CUET scores, not Class 12 percentage, as the primary criterion. The minimum eligibility is typically 45–55% in Class 12. A strong CUET score can compensate for lower board marks.
Q8: What documents are needed for Class 11 admission to a new school?
Class 10 Marksheet, Transfer Certificate, Migration Certificate, Character Certificate, and recent passport-size photographs.
Q9: Can I change my stream after taking admission in Class 11?
Most CBSE schools allow stream change within the first 2–4 weeks. After that, changes are typically not permitted.
Q10: Is JEE Mains mandatory to get into NIT even with a high Class 12 percentage?
Yes. JEE Main rank is mandatory for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Class 12 percentage affects only the eligibility criterion (minimum 75%).
Q11: Has CBSE reduced the Class 10 or 12 syllabus for 2026–27?
CBSE has not announced a further reduction. The syllabus rationalisations from 2020–2023 remain in effect.
Q12: Which chapters are deleted from the CBSE 2026–27 syllabus?
CBSE releases the official revised syllabus at cbseacademic.nic.in. For 2026–27, the document will be uploaded by June–July 2026.
Q13: Are NCERT books changing for 2026–27?
NCERT is in the process of revising textbooks as part of NCF-SE 2023 implementation. New books are being rolled out class-by-class.
Q14: What is the weightage of internal assessment vs board exam in 2026–27?
The standard pattern continues: 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for internal assessment for most subjects.
Q15: What is a CBQ and how is it different from regular questions?
Competency-Based Questions test understanding and application ("Given this scenario, what would happen if…") rather than recall ("Define X"). They carry approximately 40–50% of theory marks.
Q16: What are the most important topics in Class 10 Maths?
Highest-yield topics: Real Numbers, Polynomials, Pair of Linear Equations, Triangles, Circles, Arithmetic Progressions, Statistics, and Probability.

Biology: human digestive system, respiratory system, excretory system, human brain, reflex arc. Physics: electric circuit symbols, ray diagrams.
